Maegan Huber

Maegan Huber is a Permit Archaeologist for Ember Archaeology. Maegan joined Ember in 2024, and achieved permit holding status in Alberta. Since 2017, Maegan has worked as a professional consulting archaeologist in British Columbia and Alberta. During this time, Maegan has worked diligently on an array of Heritage Resource Impact Assessments/Mitigations (HRIA/HRIM) throughout the Boreal, Parkland, and Lower Foothills sub-regions of Alberta, and Preliminary Field Reconnaissance (PFR) and Archaeological Impact Assessments (AIA) in the Interior Plateau culture zone of British Columbia. Maegan’s experience thus far stems from a variety of industries, including Forestry, Oil and Gas, Gravel and Aggregates, Municipality, Energy, and Parks Canada projects. Additionally, Maegan has participated in a variety of community-based research projects throughout Alberta, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

Maegan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Archaeology (minoring in South American History) from the University of Calgary in 2014. Afterwards, she completed a three month field school on the Island of Saba in the Caribbean Netherlands, where she helped excavate a 17th century sugar plantation. Maegan began her career in Cultural Resource Management in 2017, and has since gained invaluable professional experience from several consulting companies. In 2021, Maegan achieved a Master’s degree from the University of Alberta. Her thesis involved a partnership with Ermineskin First Nation, and assessed Cultural Resource Management testing methodologies throughout Alberta’s Boreal forest. Additionally, Maegan is also working towards achieving Field Directorship status for the Interior Plateau of British Columbia.

Maegan’s non-archaeological related pursuits include watercolour painting, quilting, embroidery, and reading. Maegan also loves spending time on her parents farm, hiking with her dog, and frolicking in her garden.
