Industry

No matter your industry needs, our people, resources and flexibility provide you with an efficient solution. We have the capacity to run multiple large projects simultaneously and for quick interim and final reporting turnaround. It’s important to us to keep you informed, and share impact and mitigation results in a way that demonstrates your commitment to stakeholders and the community in which you work.

Ember Archaeology specializes in the archaeology of the foothills and boreal forest. Despite the majority of our work being conducted in the green area, our experience is broad. We’ve done HRIAs in every zone of Alberta and on all development types. For any type of planned development that must minimize impact on historical resources, we can help.

PRE-APPLICATION SCREENING & PREDICTIVE MODELING (HRO, AOA, BASELINE ASSESSMENT, Clearance Applications)

Prior to submitting a development to obtain HRA Approval, we provide pre-application reviews to identify risks early in the planning stage. Our detailed desktop assessments determine precise, landform-specific predictions to make evidence-based recommendations for planning and impact management. This allows our clients to modify their development footprints to avoid historic resource risks, which may limit or even possibly eliminate the need for fieldwork. Our extensive experience with lidar, satellite imagery, and predictive modeling, coupled with archival and historical research and understanding of traditional land-use means no surprises.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL SURVEY (AB HRIA, BC AIA, ETC)

Using a targeted approach based on detailed desktop analysis and predictive modeling, we can survey vast areas efficiently while providing a representative sample of historic resources of any given area.   Our systematic  survey  and  site  assessment  procedures  are  tested and proven on thousands of target landforms and hundreds of archaeological sites.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXCAVATIONS

Archaeological excavation, or mitigation, becomes necessary when impacts to archaeological sites are. We focus on finding efficient ways to maximize the data recovered from our efforts. Systematic excavation processes, digital data collection, and refined workflows minimize our reporting timelines. Scientifically proven, cost-effective analysis, like radiocarbon dating and pXRF sourcing, maximize the return on investment so that we can share what we learn with your stakeholders.

COMMUNITY & INDIGENOUS ENGAGEMENT

The participation of Indigenous People is becoming critical for  the true success  of  projects within the traditional territory of an affected Nation. Ember Archaeology is committed to investing the time and effort needed to build community relationships. We draw on our experience in community outreach to affect transparency and  facilitate consultation and participation, using public education opportunities, social media, non-technical reporting, and Ember’s own archaeology blog
